PENSIONERS v PEACOCKS

Very excited today because one way and another I have manged to join, pay for and work out Amazon Prime, so I can watch the rugby later. It's a huge expence but it has been cleared by my accountant and it has become my Christmas present. Doh! No socks for me then? Nevertheless, the world is now my oyster and I can enjoy the football fight of the century, the carnage that is a spiritual derby, the locking of horns between:

the Pensioners and the Peacocks at Stamford Bridge.

There is history:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4zntE8oXR8 This is not pretty, you may need parental permission.

The two clubs have not met for over 16 years in the league and on the final day of 2003/4 Leeds were relegated, as Chelsea won 1-0, Gronkjaer scored the goal and Lampard was in midfield. It was Ranieri's last game in charge. Leeds' last win at Stamford Bridge was in December 1999, a 0-2 win which put them top of the Premier League (at the time).

Leeds' manager Bielsa, a professorial and slightly eccentric coach, has guided Leeds to 42 clean sheets in 102 league games since 2018. He has a 54.1% win rate, better than Revie and any other manager. Patrick Bamford, of course, was out on loan to various clubs, from Chelsea between 2012-17, not having played any first team games, before he went to Middlesbrough. He is Leeds' top scorer in the PL.

Since their first meeting, Leeds have won 39 games, Chelsea 34 and Drawn 29.

Their first fixture was on 10/12/1927 a 5-0 win for Leeds in League 2. The two met first in the First Division in 1930 (2-3 to Chelsea), in 1962 they slipped down to Div 2, then back to Div One 1964, back to the Second Division in 1982, then back to League One 1990 and eventually in the Premier League 1992. The last Premier League meeting was on May 15th 2004, a 1-0 home win for Chelsea. Previously they had drawn in December 2003 at Elland Road 1-1.

There have been 4 League Cup meetings. The last on December 19th 2012 Leeds 1 v 5 Chelsea.

In the FA Cup 11th April 1970 Leeds drew 2-2 with Chelsea at Wembley and then there was the notorious FA Cup Final replay at Old Trafford on April 29th (the first Cup Final replay since 1912: Barnsley 0-0 WBA at Crystal Palace, then 1-0 to Barnsley at Brammal Lane).

PLEASE NOTE That Leeds City met Chelsea first in 1905 and they played each other until 1912 in Division Two. Leeds only managed 3 draws  and Chelsea won 5. Leeds City later became Leeds United. Read below:
