DAVID MOYES:"THAT'S WHAT I DO, I WIN"

David Moyes, at the age of 34, was promoted from Assistant Manager at Preston NE to Manager on January 13th 1998. The previous manager, Gary Peters, had just resigned, leaving Moyes in charge for the first time. That night, in front of just over 1600 fans at MacclesfieldTown's FC, Moss Road, his team was playing in an Auto Windscreens (Football League Trophy) 2nd Round tie, which the "Invincibles" (PNE) won 1-0.

Later in the year, in October, the two clubs met in League Division 2, with a 2-2 draw at Preston and then a 3-2 win for Macclesfield in April.

In the next Autoscreens' Round, the Northern Area Q-Final, Preston beat Mansfield Town 1-0 on January 27th in the Northern section and then lost to Burnley on February 17th 1-0 in the Northern Semi-final. Burnley went on to the Northern Final, losing over two legs to Grimsby Town 1-3.

Grimsby, as Northern Champs, then beat AFC Bournemouth, the Southern Champs, 2-1 at Wembley with over 62,000 in the stadium, on 19th April 1998. John Bailey scored AFC  Bournemouth's goal, Glass' own goal equalised for Grimsby and Burnett snatched the winner after 112', in extra time.

Twenty years later, on January 13th 2018, David Moyes was in charge of West Ham United at Huddersfield Town in a Premier League game, which the Hammers won 4-1, notching up his 200th Premier League win. This landmark has been also achieved by Alex Ferguson (538), Harry Redknapp (236) and Arsene Wenger (476), Jose M (211) at this time.

David Moyes played at youth level IBV in Iceland in 1978 and local Drumchapel Amateurs. Then in 1980 he went to senior football: Celtic (24 apps), Cambridge Utd (79), Bristol City (83), Shrewsbury (96), Dunfermline (105), Hamilton Academicals (5) and Preston NE (143) totalling 535 apps.

As a manager he worked at Preston first from 1998, Everton from 2002-13 taking over from Walter Smith. Then he was invited to Manchester United (lasting 1 year) after Sir Alex (a poisoned chalice?), escaped to Real Sociedad (1 year), Sunderland after Sam Allardyce (1 year) and West Ham in 2017 on a short term contract and then again  in 2019 to present after Pellegrini's departure.
Managerial matches = Total 959 Win 402 Loss 310...of which there are 210 matches in TOTAL in P.L.
