COPA AMERICA: CONMEBOL


A few minutes, see the link below, on the South American qualifiers for the World Cup and The Copa America Final. A total of 4.5 slots (4 direct slots and 1 inter-confederation play-off slot) in the final tournament are available for CONMEBOL teams.

Copa América or Conmebol was known until 1975 as the South American Football Championship (Campeonato Sudamericano de Fútbol (Spanish) and Copa Sul-Americana de Futebol  (Portuguese). Is the top men's football tournament contested among national teams from South America. It is the oldest still-running continental football competition, as well as the third most watched in the world. The competition determines the champions of South America. Since the 1990s, teams from North America and Asia have also been invited to compete. Uruguay and Argentina (holders) have won most tournaments, each 15 times. 

The latest World Cup Qualifiers began in October 2020: Match Day 1 of 18, began with Paraguay and Peru drawing 2-2.

Match Day 16 of 18 was just played on the 1st and 2nd of February 2022. 

Match Day 17 is due on March 24th and the final round (18) on March 29th 2022.

The table so far 1st: Brazil P15 Won 12 Drawn 3 = 39 pts  2nd: Argentina = 35 pts 3rd: Ecuador =23 pts then in order....Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Paraguay, Venezuela.

Football’s FIFA World Cup 2022 will take place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18. 

The draw for the finals will be held on April 1st 2022. Dark blue = qualified: Light blue= can still qualify: Yellow=failed:

Grey = three nations not CONMEBOL...name them...no peeking in an Atlas.
