CLUB NAMES IN THE SCOTTISH CUP 2022-3 and nice badges

Ahhh, time to have a look at the Scottish FA Cup, before all the interesting club names disappear back to their local leagues, out of the limelight. "Minor rouinds have been played since before Christmas. Winners go on to enjoy the 4th Rd, due to play between the 21st and the 31st January.


Darvel  FC
from Ayrshire, founded in 1889, play in Darvel, a small town known as a "lace making town", sadly its industry has died.
The club beat Montrose away 2-5 and in the 3rd Rd are v Aberdeen, playing tonight @ 7.45pm. Nicknamed the Vale, they play in the West of Scotland Premier L. and were champions last season. 

A memorial at Lochfield farm in the town, commemorates the birth there, on 6 August 1881, of Alexander Fleming discoverer of penicillin. 

Darvel Victoria is an amateur club also playing in the town..

Tomorrow Linlithgow Rose at home in West Lothian, beat Sauchie Juniors 1-0 in the 3rd Rd) v Raith Rovers 7.45pm Their ground below, just east of Falkirk . 

Sauchie a village in Clackmannanshire, the club founded in 1960, play in the East of Scotland League.

Elgin City who beat Hill of Beath, Hawthorn 1-2 away in the last round, play Drumchapel United (who beat FC Edinburgh 1-0). Hill of Beath, near Cowdenbeath, Fife. Formed in 1975 play in the East of Scotland League Premier. Their ground, Keir's Park below


Hill of Beath is the birthplace of Rangers FC legend Jim Baxter and Scotland captain Willie Cunningham and the home town of former Celitc FC captain Scott Brown.

Dundee Utd beat  Stirling University 3-0 in the 4th Rd.

The students beat Lothian Thistle 3-0 in Rd One, Dunbar Utd 1-3 away in Rd 2, Albion 0-1 away in Rd 3, met Dundee Utd, a proper side!! on 21st Jan, losing 3-0.

The University of Stirling Football Club has played in the Scottish Lowland Footbnall League since 2013. The club operates six teams which compete in a combination of British University Leagues and cups. The university also plays in amateur leagues across Scotland.

The club currently have six teams in the BUCS F.L. and also a team in the Lowland Football League, The East of Scotland F.L., the Lowlands U20 Development League and the Caledonian Amateur Football League.

The university delivers a High Performance Football Programme which provides players to the first team. As part of this programme, students can be offered football scholarships to study for a degree and play football at the university.
