Cash and Covid-19 have shaped BBC radio's coverage of the US Election results. Whether you, the licence-fee payer, likes it or not, £289m a year is taken from your contribution to keep the core World Service operation going. Content spend on Radio 4 is £88m, and on Radio 5Live, it's £48m.
So the overnight show, called America Decides, shared between Radio 4, Radio 5Live, BBC Local Radio, Radio Wales, Radio Cymru, Radio Scotland, Radio nan Gaidheal and World Service, majors on presenters more familiar to a World Service audience - Philippa Thomas, Jamie Coomarasamy, Ros Atkins and Nuala McGovern.
