On this day, the Italian dictator, Benito Mussolini, brought a new motivation to his national football team when it was due to play Hungary in the 1938 World Cup final.
Mussolini saw the match as an opportunity for national "posturing". Il Duce sent "his" World Cup players a telegram which read "Vincere o morire". This you will see means "Win or Die".
