BEST NOT TO BE TOO SHARPE

Sir Alex did not lose his patience much, with football.....(what do you think?). But "Party animal", Lee Sharpe tested him on this day in 1996 and caused Sir Alex to sell him to Leeds United for £4.5m. Not much in these days but then, a decent sum!

The "Sharpey Shuffle Celebration" was in short supply in the following days, as he suffered from injury and a loss of form, causing him to appear only 30 times in two years at Elland Road (and in away games of course)! Lee slipped down the divisions and ended up on Telly, in a reality show known to many as "Celebrity Love Island", a show that comedian Steve Merchant watched, praying for a "Tsunami"!!!

After retirement, in 2004 and 2006, Sharpe became a football pundit for ESPN, Singapore, Asia and together with Les Ferdinand, Sharpe is a celebrity host on the game show "Kickoff". After retirement in 2004 and 2006, Sharpe became a pundit for ESPN in Singapore and together with Les Ferdinand, is a celebrity host on the game show "Kickoff".  In 2021, Sharpe and his family moved to Xabia, Spain. The following December, he opened a sports bar named "Sharpey's" in Alicante.

So now to Wembley for the traditional season opener, The Community Shield Final at the Stadium and a memorial for Diego Jota and his brother AndrĂ© Silva (pictured), who were both killed in a car crash recently. Diego's shirt will be "retired".
