ON THIS DAY 2013: Newcastle United (lying 15th in the PL) fan punches a police horse after a 0-3 defeat at home to local rivals Sunderland (13th) in front of a 52,355 crowd.
In one of the weirder moments in Premier League history, an angry Newcastle fan couldn’t contain his rage following a 0-3 home defeat to Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby and punched a police horse named "Bud" during violent scenes after the game. Howard Webb reffed (the match not the fight).
That fan was later sentenced to 12 months in prison and banned from football for six years. BUT you voters......!!! Surely "neigh"............
Starting lineup, spot the Geordie:
