FORFAR 4 EAST FIFE 5 or.....

SCOTTISH LEAGUE 2 today, the old favourite: Forfar Athletic 1 v 3 East Fife who thanks to that win, presently lie 4th in the division and Forfar 10th out of 10.

The Forfar club, founded in 1885, is nicknamed "the Loons" ('loon' is a Northern Scots word for a young man), although they are sometimes referred to as the "Sky Blues" (which the club stopped using in the early 1990s). One explanation for the origins of the Loons' moniker is that the second string were younger than the first team, so over time people would say "I'm off to watch the Loons".

East Fife Football Club is a semi-professional club, established in 1903, in Methil, Fife, Scotland. They compete inScottish League Two.

The club were the first to win theScottish League Cup three times and the first of only two sides from the second tier of the Scottish League system to win the Scottish Cup. This makes them the most successful club in Fife in terms of major honours won.

East Fife is one of five SPFL clubs based in Fife, but is the only one to bear the name of the area. The four others are Cowdenbeath,Dunfermline Athletic, Kelty Hearts and Raith Rovers all "rivals".

It's a tricky one for the result readers on radio and telly, which, is, of course, Forfar 4 East Fife 5, which actually hasn't happened at all YET, but there was a Forfar 3 East Fife 5 in 1937/8, the highest aggregate between the two Scottish Clubs.

The highest score in the "ffff" Derby" for East Fife is a 7-0 in 1923/4 and for Forfar!!! 4-1, a win. on Friday July 1st.

First played in 1921/2: here are the major statistics. On the 29th August East Fife won 1-0 in the League Group, and today, as you know, East Fife won 1-3 at Forfar in the League.

As the season ends they meet on March 4th 2023 at East Fife and on May 6th 2023 at Forfar.
