HARRY KANE and THE LION INSIDE

England player and Tottenham star striker, Harry Kane, is the latest celebrity to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story. The footballer, who has played 75 games for England, will be reading The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright, with illustrator, Jim Field

The story follows a shy, little mouse who sets out on a journey to find his roar and it is a book that Kane chose himself – he reads it to his three children to remind them that even the smallest creatures can have the heart of a lion.

It is shared on BBC Cbeebies programme on BBC iplayer at 6.50pm, tonight (Monday October 10th) and will parade their new signing, Harry Kane, the centre forward of Tottenham Hotspur and England. This takes place on World Mental Day.

Harry is the star centre-forward and captain and says, "Although the showing may be a little late in the day, I am sure younger children will be allowed a treat".
The author spoke this afternoon on Talksport Radio, having just been told that the story was to be read today. Rachel has two children, aged 8 and 4, so she knows her audience. The Mouse that Roared has appeared before with Peter Sellars as a lead in a campaign about nuclear warfare.
The story is about empathy and courage and Harry is definitely nervous about taking on this pleasure. Reading to his children might not be such a challenge, but he has his own campaign about Mental Health, something he faces as a challenge whenever he steps onto a pitch and at other times I bet!

This year’s theme is “make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority” which aligns with Kane’s chosen book as it touches on themes of “friendship, confidence and self-esteem”, the BBC said.
Earlier this year, the Duchess of Cambridge narrated the modern children’s classic, The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark, by Jill Tomlinson, to mark Children’s Mental Health Week. Illustrated by Belfast artist Paul Howard, the book tells the story of baby barn owl, Plop, who is helped by others to grow in confidence and overcome his fears.
