Not quite sure where this idea comes from but I was amused by a mention of Blue Plaques yesterday on the television, so I looked up the number of footballers remembered by the famous Blue Plaque in London. I found only four and they are a "rare" collection.
Bobby Moore at 43 Waverley Gardens, Barking, who needs no introduction.
Herbert Chapman at Haslemere Gardens, Hendon, the legendary manager of Huddersfield Town and Arsenal in the 1920-30s
CB Fry 144 St James Road, Croydon, a Victorian all rounder from Repton School, Derbyshire, who played for Oxford University, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire CCC, England and taught at Charterhouse, when not playing for his country at a variety of sports. He was an accomplished ice skater too amongst other skills, like playing table tennis with a dessert spoon!
Laurie Cunningham 73 Lane Road, Stroud Green the modern day footballer, who has two, died at 33 years old following a car crash.
