Brechin City is one of those Scottish clubs whose name you hear read out over the results on telly or radio.
I have spent a bit of time on the club before and here is their wonderful Glebe Park pitch, a design that would not be allowed in England...there are rules about patterned pitches.
https://baileyfootballblog.blogspot.com/2018/03/no-more-unto-breach-dear-brechin.htmlCity was founded in 1906 and broke a Scottish League record last season (2018-19) that had been held for 126 years; that is no wins at all in the season for a Scottish senior club.
The City playing record was P36 W0 D4 L32. They won NO AWAY POINTS.
The finale was a 1-5 beating at home in the league by Queen of the South.
Sadly, Brechin were a Championship side in 2017-18, then relegated and were relegated again win less in the following season, having been regarded as promotion favourites before the season started.
The ground is famed for being the only senior club IN EUROPE to have a hedge completely along one of its perimeters.
Neil Wood, groundsman and his trusty machine, took 6 hours to plan and mow the design. I wonder if the pitch will look like that in January.
