I got a late phone call from an organ builder yesterday morning and an invitation to watch Huddersfield Town in the afternoon. Various non-league fixtures were possible but I really didn't want to follow the fortunes of the FA Trophy Fourth Round...AFC Fylde v Harrogate Town, Notts County v Aveley, Concorde Rangers v Royston Town and Barnet v Halesowen T. All a bit too far to travel on a challenging Saturday for weather. Shame. So Huddersfield T v Charlton Athletic looks a good replacement; local, sun's out and this fixture has an history. It was a Division 2 league game, 7-6. here's an earlier blog explaining that:

The two clubs also met earlier that season on 29th August 1957 with a 3-3 draw.
The two clubs have the following head to head record home and away (League and Cups):
Athletic 37 wins Drawn 19 Town 35....so The Terriers were able to close the gap with an impressive 4-0 win.
Christmas Day fixture 1958
The teams first met in December 1936 and played in Division 1 until April 1956, THEN MET
August 1957 to Feb 1970 in Div 2
Jan 74 to April 81 in Div 3
Sept 81-April 2000 in Div 1
Oct 09-Mar 2012 in League 1
Nov 12-Feb 20 (now) in the Championship
There have been Cup meets too:
Jan 1926 C 0 v H 1 FAC
Jan 1958 H 2-C 2 replay C1 v 0 H FAC
Jan 2013 C 0 v H 1 FAC
Aug 2013 H 3 v C 2 FLeague Cup
Jan 2014 H 0 v C 1
On the other hand, Town were thumped 10-1 by Manchester City on November 7th 1987 in the Second Division when Tony Adcock, Paul Stewart and David White scored hat tricks. On April 12th 1993, Town's Phil Starbuck managed a three second goal having come on as a sub against Wigan in a Second Div match .
