BECKHAM IN PECKHAM:BOBBY IN POLLOK

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7YBuMhKhXE

This is the Beckham/Dell Boy sketch which is worth under 10 minutes of your time. What's it got to do with a Football Blog? It's a CHEER UP in LOCK DOWN! and it was for Sports' Relief, so you might still be able to give.

This is comic too but sad for Pollok and City.

and now......Pollok FC founded in 1908, the offshoot of the Cricket Club, PFC's home is at Newlandsfield in West Glasgow and the club plays in the West of Scotland League Premier Division: 3rd/16 at the moment. Of course the league is on hold at the moment. Stay with me......

The club is in the Pollok Estate, a country park of over 350 acres, voted best British Park in 2007 and Best in Europe 2008 and gifted by the Maxwell family in 1966,after their ownership for 700 years, to the Glasgow Corporation. The beautiful, rural estate includes a golf club, a school, bowling club, rugby club, allotments, "Police fields", a riding school, a mountain bike circuit named after Chris Hoy, as well as the football club.

Pollok's most famous alumnus is Bobby Collins......who? Well gentleman (and ladies) of my age will know Bobby, who played (between 1949-74) for Celtic 220 apps/81 goals (his first few months with Celtic, he worked as an apprentice cobbler!), Everton 133 apps/42, Leeds Utd 149 apps/24 (Footballer of the Year 1965) and Scotland 31 caps/10 goals and several appearances for the Scottish League XI.  Also for Bury!! Oldham, Shamrock Rovers, Greenock Morton, time in Australia and managed Huddersfield (23 games), Hull (25 games), Barnsley (65 games) from 1974-85.

Born 16/2/1931-Death 13/1/2014  Height 5'3" (1.60m) The flag post in the corner of the pitch is 5 feet high. Number 10 below is not Bobby! BUT see below....

This is Bobby and Ron Yeats (6'2") 1965 Cup Final. Don't know how tall Mr W. Clements (from West Bromwich) the ref is! He was a linesman in the 1966 FUFA World Cup.
