Got bored kids nearby? Want to encourage them through some home learning e.g. history, geography, business studies, home economics......football sociology? Teach them that chocolate is not an bad commodity........its promotes sporting activity. https://www.cadbury.co.uk/our-story Here's a start.
Then have a look at the link above which will take you to Cadbury's website, not that I am encouraging you to indulge in sweets during the "lockdown", but there's much to entertain. Cadbury is the world's second largest confectionary business after Mars! Founded in Birmingham in 1824, the club sports the Cadbury colours.Every large company has a sports' club and Cadbury Athletic FC, had its own pitch at the factory site, in Bournville, but now play at the (originally Pilkingtons' XXX) Triplex Sports' Ground, King's Norton, based in Birmingham. This is a well established facility, an upgraded ground (there should be decent Cadbury investment into the Sports' Club after all) that has recently installed floodlights. This has allowed the club to join its present place on the pyramid, Division One of the Midlands League. The company club shared with Alvechurch FC for a short period.
Founded in 1994 as a Division 3 club in the Midland Combination League, the club won promotion and then as Champions in Division 2; 2013-14 moved into Division One following investment in floodlights-a requirement. The club is presently third from bottom but wth games in hand. It's a crazy moment to make any judgement on the division that contains Lichfield City (top of the div), Ashby Ivanhoe, Kirby Muxloe, Uttoxeter Town and Coventry Copsewood to name a few exotic clubs with jazzy names.
The club has been a source of several professional footballers, including Demarai Gray, a Brummy, who last played at Bayern Leverkusen and Daniel Sturridge, from Hockley, Birmingham, who has travelled through the Premier League to Trabzonspor, Turkey, and played for England at every level from U16.
Club nickname? The Chocolate Men!
How many company clubs do you know? Crawley Down Gatwick FC, Stocksbridge Park Steel FC, Prescot Cables, Stewarts and Lloyds Corby AFC (iron and steel)...
