7th of the 11th.

Football On This Day – 14th November 1934 Arsenal dominated the ranks of England's international team through the 1930s. November 14th 1934: over 56,000 saw England play a 'friendly' against the new world champions, Italy, appropriately played at Highbury and included seven Arsenal players - Bastin, Bowden, Copping (a Yorkshireman and ex collier)), Drake, Hapgood (left back and capt), Male and Moss (gk) in their line up. This was a record for the "most players from a single club in the starting line-up of an England team" and Arsenal were very much the club on form.

This was known as the 'Battle of Highbury' which was one of the most ill-tempered matches in history - England players suffered a broken foot, a broken arm and a broken nose to name but three injuries....and England won 3-2.

England later fielded seven Manchester United players against Albania in 2001; only five were in the starting line-up and two came on later as subs. Only 19,500 saw this at the Qernal Stafa Stadium in Tirana: Team: Gary Neville, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole on debut, Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Ashley Cole on debut, (others were Seaman, Campbell, Brown, McManaman, Heskey, Owen, Sheringham, Fowler).

Football On This Day – 14th November 1973
England were beaten 1-0 by Italy in a friendly at Wembley. It was the 108th and last England appearance for Bobby Moore, while the Italy goalscorer,
Fabio Capello, would have an England connection in the future.

Ramsey's team included Shilton, Hughes, Madeley, McFarland, Channon, Bell, Currie, Osgood, Peters, Clarke and Hector as a sub.

Football On This Day – 14th November 2012
Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard won his 100th cap in England’s visit to Sweden. He became the sixth England player to achieve a century of England appearances, the first five being Billy Wright, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Peter Shilton and David Beckham.

Steven Gerrard had made his debut back in 2000 in a 2-0 friendly win over Ukraine at Wembley and he went on to play 114 times for England. The match in Sweden was a friendly to mark the first football match played at the country’s new national stadium, The Friends Arena in Stockholm. A 49,967 crowd was present under a closed roof to witness a 2-4 win for Sweden, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring all four Sweden goals. Sterling made his debut and was the country's 5th youngest debutant at 17 years and 341 days. Ibrahimovic scored a hat trick in a 4-2 defeat of England. (one Swedish goal, you may remember, was a ridiculous bicycle kick from 25 yards in added time. England goalkeeper? Joe Hart, playing in the Friends Arena, Solna.
