There are some newspaper stories that you know are reported on by a fan of the club. One of those headlines came on February 1st 1961 when Manchester United were beaten, 2-7 at Old Trafford by Sheffield Wednesday in an FA Cup 4th Round replay. A Man City fan would have a field-day composing a headline after that result but it was obviously a Reds supporter who got the job. A crowd of over 62,000 witnessed this demolition.
The headline in that evening's Manchester Evening News was United in nine goal thriller. A hat-trick from Ellis and two each for Fantham and Finney saw Wednesday destroy Man U.
The United side was: Ronnie Brigg, Shay Brennan, Noel Cantwell, Bill Foulkes, Jimmy Nicholes, Nobby Stiles, Maurice Setters, Bobby Charlton, Alex Dawson, Mark Pearson, Albert Quixall.
'To the contrary, what it proves is that God exists. It's just that He supports Manchester United.'
