England C, a representative FA team from National League football, are to play a landmark friendly against Nepal FA, at The Recreation Ground, Aldershot Town FC on May 25th. The National League club will host the "international" fixture during a week long festival of diversity arranged by the FA.
Aldershot, as the "Home of the British Army", has nearly 10,000 Nepalese inhabitants living in the Hampshire area, many associated with the Army and consequently added relatives and friends. Both teams will visit local schools and hold open training sessions building up to the game.
Ex-Liverpool player, Paul Fairclough, manages the England C XI and his team will take on Wales in March, selecting Under 23 year olds from the National League.
The local Hampshire FA, The Army FA and Charities associated with Nepal, will have stalls at the ground and will give guidance of how to get involved with football at its various levels.
The day before the Gurkha Cup is being held at the EBB Stadium, a tournament that will feature the Army's Gurkha squad and local teams.
Laurence Jones, Head of the FA's National Game System, sees this as an opportunity to show how football is truly for all. The FA have recently met with the President and senior officials of the All Nepal Football Association along with country's Minister for Youth and Sport.
Match tickets, of course will be on sale from www.theshots.co.uk.
Where is Nepal?
Where is Aldershot? Behave!
