PELE: 50 YEARS AGO IN HIS PRIME

I apologise for the lengthy link...still not sure what to do! But its 50 years since Pele was at his best in the World Cup. He came to everyone's notice in Sweden's World Cup in 1958 as a youngster, was injured in 1962's tournament, then he was kicked off the park in England's World Cup in 1966, mainly by Hungary and by 1970 he was in his prime. He "retired" in 1974 and went out to pasture in the MLS with the New York Cosmos, but raised the profile of American football while he was there.
He was a true ambassador for the sport.
Pele is now unwell and embarrassed to be seen in public.

He is the most famous and wonderful footballer. Born on October 23rd 1940, at 5'8" he was a giant among men.
With Santos in Brazil from 1956 (aged 16) till 1974 (638 games 619 goals),
then NY Cosmos (56/31),
he also played 92 international games scoring 77 goals.
