No need to worry about this ref!! Britain's oldest referee has taken charge of over 5,000 games and is still officiating at the age of 90. Frank Foster refereed his first match in 1980 and is showing no sign of stopping.
The 90-year-old takes three games a week for the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA. He played football for Bamford FC (in north Derbyshire) until an injury in the 1950s ended his career. Britain's oldest referee is still officiating at 90 and with more than 5,000 games under his belt, he is showing no sign of blowing the final whistle. Frank Foster, who takes around three games every week for the Sheffield and Hallamshire FA, refereed his first game in 1980 and says he'll continue to dish out yellow and red cards even if he has to use a moped to get around the pitch!!
'I just love it, this will be my 44th year of refereeing,' he said. 'I just love being outside in the fresh air. 'If there's no referees, then there's no football. I'll be going forever, you live one life and you've got to do what you can while you're alive.' He is showing no sign of blowing the final whistle. Frank took up coaching and refereeing after a knee injury forced him out of the game.
He passed his referee’s exam in 1980, scoring 98 per cent. He said: “I just love being a ref — whether it’s girls’ football, women’s, boys’ or men’s, I’m the same.
