UP THE AMMIES

It's a big day today for the Class of '92. Part owners of Salford City FC, Beckham, the Nevilles, Giggs, Butt and Scholes (10%) each and Peter Lim 40%, look forward to seeing the Ammies taking the first step in the Football League hosting Stevenage at 12.30 in the SKY Bet League 2.
Lim also owns Valencia CF! Good for a tour?

Founded in 1940, it is the club's 70th anniversary and the Moor Lane Ground will be full to capacity, holding over 5,000. You may have followed the club on the TV Docu "Class of '92; Out of their League" in 2015-16, with the impressive Karen Baird in charge and now the well travelled Graham Alexander under her watchful eye as manager.

After a long playing career, Alexander played for Scunthorpe, Luton, Preston NE and Burnley as well as making 40 appearances for Scotland. He has managed Scunthorpe (2016-18), Fleetwood (2012-15) and been caretaker at Preston in 2011-12.

On April 16th 2011 playing for Burnley, he became the second outfield player to reach 1000 appearances and is fifth on the England and Scottish list for this. So far he has overseen 54 matches at Salford with a 52% win.

Moor Lane is known as the Peninuslar Stadium, obviously for sponsorship reasons, and has been the home of Salford City since 1978. Sir Alex  helped his lads out when he opened the new stadium in 2017, with Peninsular Business Services, a global company, joining in the partnership with the club.

Having been in minor league football from its birth, Salford City, originally known as Salford Central from its founding, played in the Manchester League from 1963, the Cheshire County League in 1980 and then the North West Counties in 1982, reaching the Northern Premier League in 2008.Then came the National League North title in 2018, winning the play off in 2019 to reach the EFL, beating another North-western club AFC Fylde. 3-0
