BLEU MURDER: BAD WALL
Holders: Greece. Venue: Portugal
June 13th 2004 France 2 v England 1 Euro 2004 Group Match: 3 mins highlights....go on.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05ds1Q5vFEY
Zidane 2 (1 pen) v Lampard 1
As the clock ticked down to the 91st minute, England were leading the defending champions, France, courtesy of a Frank Lampard goal in the 38th minute.
Rooney runs 40 yards and is brought down by Silvestre...yellow card?.........debatable...
Beckham had a cast iron penalty to convert, but he didn't.
Heskey brings down Makelele in free kick shooting range and Zidane makes the most of it....James was unsighted and motionless. BUT THEN ALL OF THE WALL HAD NO IDEA EITHER.......
Gerrard having snuffed out a final French attack, passes back to James in goal rather than pick Row Z. Henry gets to the pass back first, just, and James brings him down, penalty!
Yep, Zidane slots it home, as though it were a training game.
England manager: Sven:
Team James, Neville, *King, Campbell, Cole, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Rooney, Owen:
Subs: Hargreaves for Scholes and Heskey for Rooney (a dubious decision as Rooney was doing OK!
* Ledley King was brought in for Terry who was injured and did well. Spurs man you see...
Just another international competition cock up by our chaps.
England had looked good with wins over Switzerland 3-0 and Croatia 4-2 and then the French came top in the group. France lose to Greece in Quarters and England lose to Portugal 2-2 aet and 6-5 on pens.(Beckham and Vassell miss)
Portugal win semi-final v Netherlands 2-1 Greece beat Czechs 1-0 aet
Greece win FINAL 1-0.
