DUNG HEAP-GOOD FOR THE GRASS.

The Aberdeen Football club was founded in1881 and I was amused that the stadium, Pittodrie, was sited on a piece of land that was once used as a dung heap for the local police horses, and particularly where the present Richard Donald Stand is sited.
The first game at the new ground was held on September 2nd 1899 when the home team beat Dumbarton 7-1.
In 1903 the club merged with two local clubs, Victoria Utd and Orion and played their first game against Stenhousemuir on 15th August 1903 drawing 1-1. The club joined the Scottish Football League in 1904.
The improvement to the ground was enhanced by the selling of the FAMOUS Alex Jackson to Huddersfield Town in 1925, just in time to join the Terriers charge in the Football League.

Jackson started his career at Renton (his birth place) and in 1922 joined Dumbarton. In 1923 he was in the American Soccer League with Bethlehem Steel, at 18 years old, with his brother and then returned to Sberdeen in 1924, Huddersfield in 1925-appearing 179 times with 70 goals. Then Chelsea 1930-2.
Huddersfield's Alex Jackson
Margate FC! and finally OGC Nice and Le Toguet, retiring in 1936, fading away gently. He also played for Scotand 17 times between 1925-30 scoring 8 goals. Below: Listed as Huddersfield Town.

There's more to his story...it is worth a read, especially if you are a retired gentleman like me!
