POST BOXING DAY HANG OVER?

Football On This Day, well yesterday for starters....on the 26th December 2008, when Hull City found themselves 4-0 down at half-time, away to Manchester City in a Boxing Day Premier League fixture, Tigers' manager Phil Brown was not chuffed. He likened Hull's efforts as a 'Sunday League performance' and with his Christmas spirit absent, he refused to allow his players to return to the dressing room during the half-time break. Instead he sat them on the pitch in front of the 5500 travelling fans and gave the players a bollocking! Hull lost the match 5-1 but, look on the bright side, that meant they had drawn the second half 1-1! HERE'S A FILM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4G8Gl-Fx_ek

By December 27th in 1919, Hull City had previously lost 4 (1919-20) league matches on the trot. They bounced back with a Christmas 10-3 victory, in a Division 2 league game over Wolvly s. Hull eventualyfinished 11th in the Division and Wolves 19 just avoiding relegation. FOR INFO Tottenham won the Division,  6 points ahead of Huddersfield Town...both clubs were promoted to Division One (then the TOP Div).

and again on December 27th 1980, Birmingham City's debut making goalkeeper was Tony Coton, making his first appearance against Sunderland.
Within a minute of the start of the game, Blues defender Joe Gallagher gave away a penalty and Coton's first touch of the ball, on his debut, was to save John Hawley's spot-kick. Following his retirement in 1997, Coton returned to Manchester United as the club's goalkeeping coach, where he remained until an injury put an end to a ten-year coaching career, he has since spent time as a player's agent and as a scout notably for Wigan Ath, Bolton W and Aston Villa. Here's his record.
