PENSIONERS v RED DEVILS

Cup Final day and after having recovered from the dresses and hats this morning, what more than seeing the toffs in the hospitality sections of Wembley. United in the traditional grey suits, white shirts and red ties; Chelsea "darker".
Winners of 18 cup finals so far, the Blues and the Reds face each other today with Chelsea winning 7 finals all since 1970.

United have won 12, the first in 1909 when they beat Bristol City at the old Crystal Palace in 1909.
In all matches since the first meeting in 1905, which ended 0-0 in Division 2, United have won 77, Chelsea 53 and 49 are drawn.

The first cup tie between the two was in the 2nd round 1908 at Bank Street Clayton, when home team United won 1-0.
It took until 1950 for the next meeting in the Quarter-final when Chelsea won 2-0. as the two clubs became more successful in all areas their meetings came more regular.

Today marks the 80th year since the first live tv broadcast of the Cup Final.
