THE SQUAD

Although most of the World Cup squad has been leaked, I thought I would do a survey of those players chosen by the pundits in a distinguished national newspaper. I write this minutes before the announcement.

Six sports' writers from the Daily Telegraph listed their predictions which can be summed up thus:

2/6 Walcott, Young, Delph, Wilshere, Tarkowski, Alexander-Arnold.
1/1 McCarthy, Sessegnon, Sancho (all from Jason Burt); Winks (Paul Hayward); Welbeck, Lookman (Sam Wallace), Hart (Matt Law), Cork (Jeremy Wilson), Heaton, Shelvey (James Ducker).

Five players from the past 2014 squad survived. Cahill, Jones, Henderson, Welbeck and Sterling from Brazil.

All this announced as we hear of the death of Ray Wilson at  83 years old.
