June 9th 1993 England played the USA at the Foxboro Stadium, Boston resulting in a 2-0 win to the "Yanks" who beat the "Planks" according to the Sun paper. Paul Ince was captain and 37,000+ watched the spectacle.
Team: Woods, Dixon, Dorigo, Batty, Pallister, Palmer, Ince, Clough, L. Ferdinand, Wright, Barnes, Sharpe, subs Walker, Wright I.

The 1950 defeat by the USA in the Brazil World Cup was a more severe embarrassment. On June 29th England came 2nd with only 2 points from 3 games against the USA, Spain (who won the group) and Chile! England's goal difference was 2-2, enough to beat the other two. Played inn Belo Horizonte, a mere 10,000 watched the debacle. England failed to qualify. See previous reports

Recognise this young man? It's Ryan Wilson (his dad's name) who played for England schoolboys against Germany Schoolboys on June 10th 1989. he played for the schoolboys and Wales U18s in 1989. He was not eligible to play for England adults however since his birth was in Wales for whom he played 64 times from 1991-2007.
