Well, Will Frost's musical "intrusion" and the ditty of "Scouting for Girls" mentioned in my footballing blog yesterday brought one of my largest hits! TOTP!! Thank you readers. This happens most days and will give you anecdotes to break the ice at any party, so keep reading.
Will Will and his followers continue to follow me, as I meander topically through past World Cup moments?
On June 7th 1970 in Guadalajara, Mexico, our greatest goalkeeper, Gordon Banks, pulled off that great save from Pele, who typically congratulated Banks as he flipped Pele's header over the bar. I watched it as it happened-remarkable football. England put up a great show and lost 0-1 in front of 70,950 fans. England team:
Banks, Wright T, Cooper, Mullery, Labone, Moore, Lee F, (sub; Astle missed a sitter?) Ball, Charlton R (sub Bell), Hurst, Peters.
Below-it's a long link but only a few minutes and worth watching. The Brazilian goal, Pele's final pass, Banks' save and Jeff's sitter!
