On this day in 1982 Scotland drew with USSR 2-2 in Malaga at the WC in Spain. Scotland lost out on goal difference having played New Zealand and Brazil. Two players were chosen to take drug tests and therefore had to consume liquids first, having been dehydrated during the game.
Nottm Forest's John Robertson, no shrinking violet, drunk his chosen alcohol as did his Russian partner. Robertson drunk him under the table and the poor lad was seen leaving the medical room swaying and singing white Christmas!
